Original note telling of our newest repeater being commissioned:

February 20, 2021

We are now "live" on the B.A.R.C. Club's brand-new Yaesu DR-2X repeater!

This was purchased late 2020 with club funds because B.A.R.C. was eligible to participate in Yaesu's "Upgrade Program". The slightly older DR-1X will be moved to 444.575 MHz and the callsign will be KCØLAT/R.

The BARC Club's UHF Repeater is a Yaesu DR-1X under the callsign KCØLAT. The DR-1X was originally installed as the 2-Meter repeater on April 25, 2020, but was re-programmed and moved to 440 service on February 20, 2021 when the new DR-2X became available. The UHF repeater is capable of analog FM and Yaesu System Fusion C4FM digital modulation.

KFD-ADMINISTRATION.jpg

The location of the BARC repeaters is the City of Kennett Public Administration building, 200 East 2nd Street, about a block south of the city square at coordinates: 36°14'06.92', 90°03'18.86"

We wish to thank the Kennett Fire Department and City of Kennett officials who allowed us the use of their radio room, tower, and antenna.

Sinclair 4-cavity Duplexer

Sinclar Duplexer.jpg

A duplexer is a device that allows a weak incoming signal to be isolated from the much stronger signal being transmitted by the repeater at the same time. The duplexer is placed "in-line" between the antenna and the repeater. It is really a combination "band-pass/band-reject" filter. That is why there is a 600 kHz "split" between the repeater's receiver on 146.385 and it's transmitter on 146.985 MHz. KBØUFL/R currently has the Sinclair duplexers in use. We also have a backup set of WACOM duplexers available for use.

Henry VHF Amplifier

We are also fortunate to have a Henry VHF amplifier connected in the transmit signal path of the repeater. It is used to boost the output signal of the repeater to make it stronger.
